Also known as ‘kopitiam’, the coffeeshop is open daily, serving a wide variety of local favourites to a diverse crowd. Singaporeans have a soft spot for the breakfast offered by the drinks stall comprising of half-boiled eggs, kaya toast and coffee. The order is usually accompanied with a little tray of dark sauce and pepper you can add to taste. Many drink stalls used to grind their own coffeebeans, which marinated the coffeeshop in a lovely aroma. Coffee and tea could be ordered custom to your preference – With or without sugar / milk / carnation milk / ice. In the past, hot drink takeaways were poured into a recycled milk tin held up by raffia strings. The coffeeshop – where locals from all walks of life come together – is still as well loved today as it was before.
